2027 California minimum wage increase

Effective January 1, 2027, the California minimum wage of $16.90 per hour will increase to $17.40 per hour. Fast food restaurant employers and health care facility employers have a higher minimum wage.

Beginning January 1, 2027, an employee must earn an annual salary of at least $72,384 to meet the salary threshold for overtime exemption. Employees must also satisfy the duties and other requirements applicable to the specific exemption.
